Moral Injury

Motal Injury (MI) is an injury that occurs due to exposure to or perpetration of an incident that violates one’s moral beliefs and values. Embarrassment, shame, loss of trust in others and self, and guilt are addressed and processed during therapy focused on MI. Emotional, mental, existential, and spiritual crises are addressed through secular and non-secular therapeutic modalities.

In our work, we help identify and understand the difference between PTSD and MI. Through that process, we can recognize the critical priorities and establish a treatment goal to work through the complexities of either one or both PTSD and MI.

In our work with MI, we specialize in frontline workers, first responders, veterans, and the general public who experience moral emotions resulting from actions taken or observations made during a traumatic incident.
